Imagine you are in the same room as that person or type of person you hate. Just you and them and a table with two chairs. What do you do? Attack them with words or with punches? Stare at them with your eyes burning? Throw the chair, the table, the other chair at them?
Or, do you take a seat across from them and listen to what they have to say?
I think it’s important, especially nowadays, to remember that everyone has a reason for what they do. Everyone has a story. Everyone is the main character, the good guy in their life.
And I know I find it hard to think that when someone is doing something I completely disagree with. Man, it’s hard. It’s so hard. But, there is one thing I think all humans can agree on: Everyone deserves to be listened to.
Whether you agree with them or not, it is important for everyone to be able to state what they believe. And, on top of that, its even more important for them to be listened to. Truly listened to. Not just nodded at while you try to come up with what you’re going to say in return to prove them wrong.
Everyone has a reason for what they do and even if you don’t agree with them, they deserve to be treated as human. They deserve to be listened to.
Or at least for you to try your best.
How about you? How do you listen to those you don’t necessarily agree with? Comment below!
